IEAW
IEAW (The Initiative to Educate Afghan Women) is a foundation created by Paula Nirschel to educated the women of Afghanistan by giving them the opportunity, through scholarships, to study in American colleges and universities. As mentioned in their mission statement, the goal of this initiative to educate and empower the next generation of Afghan women: “The goal of the Initiative is to help educate the next generation of Afghan women and help build an intellectual future for Afghanistan by providing role models – in law, business, political science, education and computer technology – to the newly reorganized country.”– IEAW.
There are 30 Afghan girls studying in 13 universities and colleges all over the United States. Thus far IEAW, has been able to give the opportunity to study in the United States for a total of 81 Afghan girls.
Qualifications an Requirements
Please know that this program is designed ONLY for Afghan girls intending to attend higher education in the United states.
- High School Grades: Your highs school grades must be between 85-100
- English Proficiency: You must be fluent in English and score not lower than 550 on TOEFL PBT
- Residency and Dedication: You and your family must be a resident of Afghanistan and you must be 100% dedicated to the program
- Application deadline: The application deadline and timeline changes from year to year.
